Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams of colleagues, clients, and stakeholders on a wide variety of water resources projects.
  • Developing and applying computer models to support stormwater collection and treatment system design, water resources management, and ecosystem restoration.
  • Performing stormwater and surface water monitoring.
  • Managing, evaluating, and visualizing data, including statistical analyses and data analytics using statistical software and scientific programming languages.
  • Contributing to design of stormwater control measures, drainage systems, and related hydraulic structures.
  • Conducting spatial analysis using geographic information system (GIS) software.
  • Contributing to applied research and technical guidance in water resources topic areas.
  • Preparing technical documents, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering or a similar field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering, with emphasis in water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)
  • Engineering Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. (preferred)
  • Ability to obtain P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration in Oregon or Washington, if applicable, within three years of employment. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 1 - 5 years of related experience and/or highly relevant graduate study. (preferred)
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, technical writing, creative thinking, and problem solving. (required)
  • Demonstrated history of service. (preferred)
  • Applied technical experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Hydrologic, hydraulic, and/or hydrodynamic modeling (e.g., EPA-SWMM, InfoWorks, HSPF, LSPC, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CE-QUAL-W2, EFDC),
    • Spatial analysis and design software (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Google Earth Engine), and/or
    • Programming, data analytics, and information management (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
