Job Summary

Candidate will be responsible for engineering of material handling systems. Each system is custom designed per client based on the optimal solution. This requires a team effort of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, controls, software, and project management. The team will develop and implement a design concept that satisfies the customer's requirement for safety, functionality, reliability, throughput, and expense.



Responsibilities

    Designs/Enhances conveyor systems as well as various automated and semi-automated material handling systems; may work on phases of a larger project or an entire smaller project
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements and specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
  • Creates approval, permit, and installation drawings using AutoCAD
  • Obtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders
  • Monitors the project schedule, engineering time, and material costs
  • Works with other disciplines on the project team to make sure the enginee red solution and all equipment fit within system confines and constraints
  • Travels up to 20% to measure buildings, inventory equipment, commission systems, and interface with customers
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects
  • Resolves engineering issues by working with customers, vendors, and other team members


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of material handling related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks proficiency
  • Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
  • Ability to handle intermediate size project assignments with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of the material handling business and ability to assist across teams and divisions
  • Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Ability to learn new technology
