Financial Counselor Opportunity Cumberland Hall Hospital is a 97 bed, licensed, acute psychiatric hospital located in beautiful Hopkinsville, KY. Cumberland Hall features individual units for youth, adults and active duty military, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Job Duties to include:
- Report insurance benefits to UR and Admissions upon submission of insurance card.
- Answers any questions that clients or families may have about financial responsibility. Explains insurance benefits to clients within 24 hours of admission if possible and have client sign that they received and understand their benefits
- Discuss self-pay with potential clients with little or no insurance and plan for suitable payments and assist patient with applying for Medicaid. Accept payments from clients and process any credit card payments that are received at the facility or via phone.
- Responsible for making bank deposit. Reconcile and maintain the petty cash account on a monthly basis for approval of the Business Office Manager.
- Input censuses excel file for Inpatient and Partial programs. Reconcile physical bed count against AS400 daily and month end.
- Ensure that information both demographic and financial is represented correctly in the AS400 system upon admission.
- Monitor changes regarding patient information during stay and correct them in the system for distribution to all appropriate staff.
- Reconcile and enter Partial billing charges.
- Post all facility cash receipts daily and notify biller and supervisor of any necessary corrections needed on patient accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications
Financial Counselor Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma / GED
- Experience:
- One-year of healthcare reimbursement and third-party billing experience.
- Experience in collections from third party payers and financial counseling to potential clients.
- Must possess knowledge of all accounting applications and third-party reimbursement regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Moderate computer systems and software proficiency demonstrated knowledge of day-to-day clerical and hospital procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidential information is required.
- Knowledge of As400 and spreadsheet software.
- Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families, and referral sources.
- Must have elevated level of interpersonal skills. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
- Must be knowledgeable of and abide by HIPAA regulations with regard to protected health information as defined by HIPAA and facility. Uses and / or discloses on a daily basis verbal, written and / or electronic PHI in order to perform job duties, as pertains to (CLIENTS' FINANCIAL, DEMOGRAPHIC, AND / OR CLINICAL DATA) and / or (EMPLOYEES' FINANCAL, DEMOGRAPHIC, AND / OR CLINICAL DATA). 48:60 Follows and abides by Company policies, procedures, and Corporate Compliance Program, as applicable to role and responsibilities.
