Job Description Summary

Sr. Retirement Benefits Analyst

The Benefit Analyst (Retirement) provides analytical and strategic support in the delivery and auditing of the company's 401(k) and 409A retirement plans. Administration includes processing weekly funding, ongoing audits and reporting, file error corrections, and daily interaction with Plan record-keeper and internal benefits team. Support also includes data analysis and processing, responding to team member escalations, and working on special projects in support of retirement programs. Serves as subject matter expert for administration and governance of Sunbelt's retirement programs.

Position Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Processes, calculates, and submits weekly 401(k) and 409A funding to plan administrator working with record-keeper, payroll, and HRIS teams as needed.
  • Analyzes and researches financial and indicative file errors.
  • Handles or facilitates requests for contribution adjustments, refunds, and other administrative changes for the retirement plans.
  • Explains retirement benefit plan policies, procedures, and legal requirements to employees and beneficiaries, as needed.
  • Addresses escalated team member issues related to retirement plans.
  • Processes and reconciles 401(k) record-keeper invoices, timely and accurately.
  • Performs ad hoc reporting utilizing retirement recordkeeping platform and company HRIS system.
  • Leads the 401(k) annual audits, identifies improvement opportunities, and presents detailed action plans for resolutions to HR senior leadership.
  • Attends ongoing retirement calls, reviews and improves standard processes, and ensures team members are set-up accurately in the HRIS and record keeping systems.
  • Prepares 409A Performance Base Files and tracking of stock deferral elections.
  • Manages the annual 409A Open Enrollment and ensures the yearly elections are updated in the HRIS system accurately through annual and quarterly audits.
  • Processes address changes, permissible withdrawal forms, as needed.
  • Performs additional compliance items.
  • Regularly evaluates existing processes to identify areas for improvement and collaborates with the team to make any necessary, approved adjustments.
  • Stays updated with retirement industry best practices and integrates them into the workflow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent work experience plus 8+ years of direct retirement benefits administration experience.
  • Experience with stock administration and Workday a plus.
  • Experience with complex data analyses, benefit programs and business process recommendations is preferred.
  • Ability to understand Sunbelt Rentals' culture and leverage that as a positive means of achieving objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize work and manage deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask successfully.
  • Strong follow-through skills and ability to resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and planning skills, including demonstrated ability to problem solve, communicate effectively, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintain highly confidential employee information and files.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. Base Pay Range: $79,163.00 - 108,849.40

Sunbelt also provides a comprehensive benefits package to its full-time employees. This package includes health, dental and vision plans, 401(k), volunteer time off, short-term and long-term disability, accident, life and travel insurance, as well as flexible spending, tuition reimbursement, college savings, EAP and length of service awards. You will become eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days from your start date. Sunbelt offers team members the following time off from work, subject to Sunbelt's policies: twelve to twenty-five vacation days depending on years of service; five sick days; six paid holidays, two paid half day holidays, two floating holidays, one inclusion day, and one volunteer day (unless specified in a collective bargaining agreement).
