The Director of Educational Services directs patient care performance management and clinical experts who utilize specialized knowledge skill and competency for promoting evidence based sage care of patients families and/or significant others through nursing process and practice through the departments Clinical Nurse Specialists. The Director acts as a consultant to nursing, physicians, other health care team members and administration for the development, revision, review, implementation, evaluation of standards of care, practice, processes and systems.
The Director is also responsible for Educational Services for overseeing competency based educational programming and patient education across the health system. Creates innovative learner curriculum, and teaching/learning experiences. Collaborates with schools of nursing and other outside agencies to support degree certificates and other continuing education programs. Effectively works with Nursing Departments, Ancillary Departments, Medical Staff and Support Departments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Masters of Science in Nursing and/or related field. 2. Graduate Nursing Program, BSN/BA. 3. Current WV State license as a registered nurse. EXPERIENCE: 1. Five - Seven years progressive experience in an acute care setting. 2. Progressive clinical and/or managerial experience. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Collaborates with the Health Care Team at all levels of the organization to address patient care systems practice issues and continuum challenges. 2. Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Plan for the Provision of Nursing Care and facilitates the delivery of patient care via the Collaborative Practice Model. 3. Plans with the Health Care Team for the interpretation, application, and monitoring of JCAHO and other regulatory standards. 4. In conjunction with department directors, oversees the plan for initial job training and information (orientation) for staff, student, volunteers and licensed independent practitioners. 5. Oversees the assessment, maintenance and improvement of staff competency. 6. Additional ongoing education for staff who provide care treatment and services (besides the annual competency plan assessment) occurs. 7. Develops and oversees a preceptor-training program. 8. Plans scheduling of classes and curriculum, considering client demands, room availability and cost effectiveness. 9. Oversees with department directors and marketing the educational materials available to patients for instruction about care, treatment and services. 10. Nurse Planner/Administrator role for Camden Clark Memorial Hospital Continuing Education (CE) Provider Unit, review all CE offerings and is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of quality CE activities, and will follow the guidelines set forth in the WV Nurses' Association Approver Unit Manual. 11. In conjunction with VP, and Service Line Department Heads develop PCS strategic plans reflective of corporate goals to facilitate effective progress. 12. In conjunction with VP, management team and Service Line staff develops education strategic plans reflective of corporate goals to facilitate effective progress. 13. Provides annual educational services operating budget preparation and monitoring, enabling department to function within budgeted constraints. 14. Serves as a Nursing Liaison to Information Systems for the application of IS process design/implementation. 15. Oversees and monitors Service Line Department Performance Management Plans and utilizes quality control and Performance Management processes(RCA's, Case Reviews, MAIC), with staff participation to identify patient care issues/problems, and to develop action plans to resolve problems, reduce risks, increase safety, improve outcomes and exceed customer expectations. 16. In conjunction with Service Line Management Team provides education to staff on new initiatives, process standards etc. 17.
