Feb 26, 2025

We are looking for exceptional, hands-on scientists to help model our observations, create algorithms to process our data, and develop the GNSS and radar-based data products that will measure the Earth’s atmosphere and carbon and water volumes on the Earth’s surface.

See below for some of the expertise and skills of interest, but keep in mind that we don’t expect candidates to have all of these—if you currently have some of the listed qualifications and have a demonstrated capacity to learn fast, you would make a great candidate.

GeoOptics is committed to having a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities:

Develop, test and deploy data processing and evaluation techniques for new data types and instruments

Analyze and develop our data gathering and processing stack to maximize the information provided to our customers

Evaluate instrument and satellite performance to inform operations, software upgrades and new designs

Collaborate with multidisciplinary scientific and engineering team in design and development of new instruments and data products

Create documentation and give presentations to internal and external audiences

Qualifications:

Masters or PhD in a relevant technical field, e.g. Earth Science, Physics, Engineering, Math, etc.

Knowledge of the Python scientific data stack

Experience with AWS or other cloud-computing platforms

Knowledge of one or more of the following areas:

Remote sensing system development, data processing and/or data analysis

High-performance computing on non-CPU platforms (including FPGA and GPU)

Remote sensing measurement of oceans, snowpack and/or freshwater bodies of water

Remote sensing measurement of forests and other ecosystems

Algorithm development using machine learning and other techniques

Ability to respectfully and collaboratively communicate in spoken and written English, while explaining highly technical subject matter

A knack for learning quickly from colleagues and the scientific literature

Track record of self-starting, taking ownership of projects and juggling multiple priorities

Enthusiasm for our mission to create a new way of observing the Earth

The Bottom Line

Our team is made up largely of scientists and engineers who have worked on cutting edge programs in government, in industry and in academia. We’re looking for exceptional people of all levels of experience who broaden our expertise and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We’re small, meaning everyone participates in activities across our portfolio, including new technologies in every stage from conception to operations. Adaptability is a must.

Both junior and senior level applicants will be considered. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes competitive benefits and equity participation.
