The PHP Therapist is responsible for all aspects of resident care and therapy. Key Responsibilities include:
- Comprehensive assessment of persons whose lives are disrupted or complicated by mental illness, behavioral disturbance, substance issues or inability to function or maintain in the community.
- Assists law enforcement, family members and others with the admission process, both voluntary and involuntary.
- Makes referrals to community resources as appropriate.
- Coordinates discharge planning through the medical staff.
- Function as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in the community relations program of the organization.
- Participates in continuous performance improvement activities.
- Communicates with outpatient referral sources, families/guardians, and outpatient aftercare providers.

Qualifications
Regulatory Requirements
- Masters Degree in a behavioral science related field (psychology, social work, human services, or counseling)
- Highly prefer currently licensed behavioral science professional. Eligibility for current state licensure is a requirement.
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in a supervised clinical behavioral health care experience preferred.
Language Skills:
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must have sufficient language skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to accurately and professionally implement and document the services provided to clients.
- Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of a wide range of psychosocial, cognitive and /or developmental disorders.
- Ability to visually observe client needs.
- Possess the ability to work productively and effectively.
Physical Demands:
- Bending, stooping, lifting and pulling during direct client care necessary as required. May be required to assume awkward positions during physical management of violent or emotionally disturbed clients. Ability to safely participate in and/or supervise physical leisure activities of designated client population.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Generally works in a fluorescent lit, enclosed, non-smoking environment. Occasionally required to supervise clients who wish to spend time outdoors on a daily, year-round basis. Possible job related hazards include lacerations and punctures from sharp objects, infectious diseases, and human bites, scratches and/or saliva.
