Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs the primary function of an OR Supervisor in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating proper flow of the operating suites as well as, preparing and maintaining departmental reports and records. The OR Supervisor shall oversee and guide Surgical Services Teams that are under his / her supervision in the department. He / She will be responsible for interacting with hospital staff and / or ancillary departments regarding concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Performs the primary function of a professional nurse circulator in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients undergoing surgery. The RN maintains the ability to monitor and control the surgical environment by regulating temperature and humidity, adheres to electrical safety policies and procedures, monitors sensory environment, maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to sanitation policies and procedures. The RN will be responsible for overseeing safety measures adhere to principles of aseptic practice when providing care to surgical to patients. The OR Supervisor routinely works weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 2 years previous RN experience in same or similar unit(s) covered by position required or 1 year previous RN experience in same or similar unit(s) within an STHS facility. 2. 1-3 year's previous supervisory experience preferred. 3. Willingness to be cross-trained to other unit areas. 4. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred. 2. Must possess an Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University. 3. Effective July 1, 2018: Must have a bachelor's degree in Nursing (or Bachelor's in related field) on hire or current clinical supervisors will be enrolled in a BSN program with degree completion no later than July 1, 2020; internal promotions will enroll into BSN program within 6 months of transition to Clinical Supervisor role. 4. Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs.
