Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs the primary function of an HIM Birth Registrar regarding the registration for the birth certificates. Birth Registrar oversees all birth registration process. Conducts phone and bedside interviews with parents of newborns in a courteous, respectful and informative manner to obtain accurate demographic information. Files certificate with the state Bureau of Vital Statistics within five days of birth via the TER web base software. The Birth Registrar will oversee all clerks for the intergirty and quality of work. They will serve as a resource for covering daily birth registrary. The Birth Registrar will be included in the weekend rotation to interview and register newborns. They will also be performing HIM respoonsibilites as backups as needed. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 2-3 years experience in medical records or healthcare related field, preferred. 2. Interpersonal skills required. 3. Bilingual skills required. 4. Knowledge of computers, copy machine, microfilm and reader printer preferred 5. A valid Texas Driver's License; safe driving skills; the ability to safely operate company vehicles. 6. Flexible to travel to other facilities. 7. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. High School diploma, GED or Higher Education 2. Must obtain AOP Certification within 30 days of hire. 3. Associates degree in HIM/ Healthcare related field, preferred, or in lieu of education, a minimum of 2-3 years experience in HIM/Healthcare related field.
