The successful candidate will help establish and manage sequencing for GSK"s new oligo platform biology team. Areas of focus are: establishing RNA seq and Amplicon seq capabilities, building a team to support both project screening and exploratory biology efforts and serving as the sequencing expert for the team. Oligo modalities for evaluation include ASO, siRNA, SSO and RNA editing oligos.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following...

  • Establish robust and reproducible, high throughput (96/384) RNA seq and amplicon seq assays for the team, including library prep, qc and sequencing
  • Manage sequencing efforts for a range of diseases and targets as well as for platform-based development
  • Develop efficient workflows and SOPs to build a strong foundation for the team
  • Serve as the sequencing representative for Oligo Biology in various meetings/discussions
  • Recruit, manage and develop a small team (1-2) to enable successful delivery of project and platform goals
  • Independently design, execute and troubleshoot experiments including the analysis and presentation of data across groups
  • Continually optimize and validate new biological assays to drive identification and characterization of superior oligonucleotide therapeutics at GSK
  • Collaborate and communicate across various teams to build robust workflows, or leverage internal resources to deliver on portfolio endpoints
Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD with 3+ years, MS with 6+ or BS with 10+ years' experience in molecular or cell biology or related field
  • Experience with various NGS assays including RNA sequencing and Amplicon sequencing
  • Expertise in RNA biology, assay development and troubleshooting
  • Experience with therapeutic oligonucleotides (ASO, siRNA, SSO's, RNA Editors)

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master's Degree or PhD
  • 1+ years of supervisory/management experience
  • Experience with high throughput liquid handlers is a plus
  • Experience with Nanostring, long-read seq and ddPCR is a plus
  • Independent individual with strong initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team are required
  • Sense of urgency, flexibility, independence and accountability
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels both inside and outsider of organization.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity while balancing multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Must be a committed team player prepared to work in and embrace a team-based culture.
