Position Overview: NYU School of Medicine at Woodhull Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Infectious Disease Attending to join our team. This role will participate in the infection prevention and control efforts across the medical center, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and providing expert guidance in managing infectious diseases. The position involves both direct clinical responsibilities and leadership within the Division of Infectious Diseases under the Department of Medicine, working closely with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive medical care for patients with infections in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Diagnose and treat infectious diseases conditions through clinical evaluation, diagnostic testing, and treatment planning.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients and follow-up care.
- Participate in patient education and outreach regarding infection prevention.
- Stay current with the latest research, treatment protocols, and advancements in infectious diseases.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Engage in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with medical standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with a valid license to practice medicine in New York.
- Board Certification in Infectious Disease (or related specialization) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards (CDC, NYS DOH, Joint Commission, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, patients, and management.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Prior teaching experience and leadership capabilities are a plus.
