A position for Co-Op experience is available in the Performance Coatings Group on the Design Quality Continuous Improvement team and will take place from May through December of 2025. The co-op will be assigned to a mentor and will develop knowledge about Lean, Design for Six Sigma, and overall Continuous Improvement methodologies. This opportunity will allow them to gain experience in problem solving and analysis, using Minitab and MS Power Automate tools, as well as working with R&D professionals and in workgroups.
- Collaborate with other Quality and R&D team members, including analytical, engineering, and testing groups, to complete required tasks
- Provide support to Continuous Improvement managers within assigned group and other technicians, chemists, and scientists as needed
- Complete appropriate research documentation, calculations, and data analysis and effectively communicate these results with mentor and team members
- Perform statistical calculations in Minitab (or other software, as required)
- Develop process solutions using MS Power Automate tools
- Prepare samples, materials, equipment, and other required tools for laboratory tests or development
- Perform technical development, tests, analyses, and research based on formulas and project requirements
- Perform a variety of laboratory tasks utilizing general instruments and lab equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Currently enrolled in a college or university and actively working towards a bachelor's (minimum sophomore in standing) in any of the following: coatings, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, polymer science, or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Chemistry or chemical engineering majors
- Has completed minimum of two semesters of organic chemistry and two semesters of calculus
- Ideal candidate will have previous work experience in a lab
