Academic Analyst
Job Summary The Academic Analyst uses advanced skills as an experienced administrative operation professional to manage, plan and administer the academic and staff operations of the Department and reports directly to the Faculty Operations Manager. Perform short and long-term planning for the unit.
This position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, administering, and in consultation with the Faculty Operations Manager and the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs, work with central Academic Human Resource Center in managing the academic recruitment, onboarding, advancement, reduction-in-time and separation processes and assure compliance with appropriate UC policies and standards for core faculty, non-faculty academics and affiliated faculty.
Demonstrates strong communication skills and good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for planning, developing, implementing, administering, and coordinating departmental academic recruitment, visa applications, onboarding, advancement, labor relations, and separation processes. This position serves as a key administrative resource for faculty and departmental leadership and is primary liaison to the HR Academic and Staff Service Centers. Utilizes knowledge of UC system wide academic and staff HR policies and programs to address strategic personnel issues. Primary responsibility for implementing actions utilizing PeopleConnect, UCPath, Advance, and AP Recruit. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $109,400 - $164,400 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine. The Department of Radiology provides service for UCSF's six integrated facilities: Moffitt/Long Hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, San Francisco Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Mt. Zion Hospital, China Basin, and the Mission Bay Hospital. The department has 32 sections and research units, and has over 200 salaried faculty and nonfaculty academics. There are also approximately 75 volunteer clinical faculty.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience
- Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Knowledge Human Resources Management System enterprise systems, such as UCPath, AP Recruit, and/or similar business software programs and systems.
- Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address complex issues and present nuanced analyses.
- Requires advanced knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret system wide, campus and college policies and procedures with govern academic HR.
- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
- Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, problem-solving and customer service.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
- Advanced knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, risk management planning, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
- Advanced interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling skills.
- Advanced knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for workforce management, human resources, administration, and / or personnel management.
