Position Summary

As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will support the definition, analysis, specification, and validation of medical devices that are used for interventional cardiology and diagnostic imaging. You will report to a senior systems engineer and will work closely with other cross-functional members of the product development team. You will learn systems engineering practices and gain experience applying them during medical device development. Depending on the project, your responsibilities will include:



  • Support the definition of user needs, system and sub-system requirements, and system architecture.
  • Develop and perform testing to support architectural decisions and system characterization.
  • Generate design verification and design validation protocols and support their execution.
  • Use requirement and test management tools to create and communicate traceability between system artifacts.
  • Partner with team members to help diagnose product issues.
  • Perform trade-off analyses to aid technical decision-making.
  • Acquire, analyze, and report results for product testing and reliability data.



Training to be Provided

Students will be exposed to working with various operations and product support departments within Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT). They will learn key requirements which need to be followed in a regulated environment such as the medical device industry. Training may cover relevant aspects of medical device development procedures, along with more specific aspects related to BMT products.

Additionally, our interns and co-ops benefit from a buddy program, career development programming, and opportunities to build their professional networks virtually and in-person with BMT professionals.

Qualifications

Minimum



  • At least two years of study towards a bachelor's degree in engineering or other scientific discipline program.



Preferred



  • Enrolled in a biomedical, electrical, mechanical, software, or systems engineering program.
  • Practical knowledge designing across multiple disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.
  • Experience using requirement and test management tools (e.g., Jama).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High degree of organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Testing and data analysis experience.



Term/Hours



  • January/May 2024 start dates are preferred with 3-month engagements.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week.
  • Job Location: Eden Prairie, Minnesota (no relocation or housing assistance available).
