JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Public Health Sciences, in Hershey, Pa, is seeking a Part time Reseach Assistant. This is a Summer Internship Opportunity: AI/ML and Clinical Informatics Research focusing on Ischemic Stroke.

Committed to advancing healthcare through an innovative multidisciplinary team-science approach, our team is on a mission to leverage data from Electronic Health Records (EHR) and public sources, to identify and bridge care gaps. Our goal is to enhance healthcare addressing the transformative challenges brought about by the digitalization of healthcare.

We are currently focusing on the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to advance our understanding of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions, with a particular emphasis on ischemic stroke and its associated factors. In pursuit of our objectives, we are excited to welcome two motivated graduate students to join our team for summer internships. As interns, you will actively contribute to our ongoing research, specifically concentrating on AI and clinical informatics. This involves hands-on experience with data analysis and the interpretation of findings. The ideal candidate for this position should possess some research experience, be a fast learner, and have a keen interest in collaborative work within an interdisciplinary and agile team. Reporting directly to Dr. Abedi from the Department of Public Health Sciences, this person will also benefit from co-mentorship by Dr. Zand from the Department of Neurology.
