JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Social, Life and Engineering Sciences Imaging Center (SLEIC www.imaging.psu.edu), a unit within the Social Science Research Institute at Penn State University has an opening for an MRI Technologist.

The imaging center contributes to Penn State's thriving research environment by providing state-of-the art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) (primarily brain imaging) and data analysis facilities. We are looking for a motivated, independent, well-organized individual with excellent interpersonal skills.

This is a 75% full-time equivalency (FTE) position, which is equal to 30 hours per week. Full Penn State benefits included.The work schedule will vary based on the weekly scanning schedule but will require at a minimum 3-4 afternoons/evenings until 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM EST and every other Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM EST.

This is a term position with good possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities: The Research MRI Technologist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Scanning adult and pediatric research participants, using a broad range of established and new methods
  • Ensuring participant safety
  • Collaboration on the development of new imaging protocols
  • Assisting investigators with troubleshooting and implementing changes to existing protocols
  • Conducting investigator/staff safety training
  • Other related duties.

Education and Experience: This position requires, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging including high-field scanning is preferred. Experience conducting MRI research in a research-oriented facility is preferred.

All candidates for this position must be registered as an RT/MRI Technologist with MRI certification.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
