Histotechnician - Mohs Histotech Watkins, VA Pay From: $23 per hour MUST: Experienced Histotechnician - Mohs Histotech 1+ years of experience as a Histotechnician/ Histotech in Mohs lab 1+ years of experience working in Dermatology, Pathology and/or Surgery field 1+ years of experience working in a high complexity lab Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly and engaging self-starter that works well in high pressure situations Ability to solve problems in a strong, confident manner Ability to travel to other locations if needed Experience with electronic medical record systems Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Bachelor's degree in science required DUTIES: Performs required quality control procedures for compliance with all local, state, and federal laws Cares for, maintains and documents required maintenance on laboratory equipment, instruments, and accessories in accordance with CLIA regulations Prepares sections of human tissue for microscopic examination under the supervision of the surgeon Accession specimens as they enter the lab Label slides with patient identifiers Gross specimens into the lab Embed all tissue into frozen medium Cut frozen sections in the cryostat Stain frozen sections on the linear stainer, and coverslip slides Daily laboratory setup and close procedures including cleaning the cryostat and stainer Cleans, stocks and inventories in the laboratory area, ordering supplies and equipment as necessary Updates laboratory protocols and manuals as policies change Performs other duties as assigned Quadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
