Job Summary

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for clinical care coordination for a panel of pediatric, adolescent, and young adult (up to age 25) patients with chronic kidney disease and kidney transplant. Must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients, and providers. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, problem solving skills and diplomacy are necessary in interacting with providers, staff, and patients in a complex care environment. The Licensed Vocational Nurse consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor and shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $43.00 - $53.94 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Three years related experience in similar environments as an LVN or MA.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Recent experience working in Pediatrics
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Recent experience and/or knowledge on administering vaccines and medications.
  • Strong customer service orientation

Preferred Qualifications


  • IV Certification
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Experience in Renal Department
  • Proficient in EPIC

License/Certification


  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
