Position Summary:

This position manages assigned contractor & vendor relationships, coordinating and completing Quality Assurance / Quality Control inspection requirements to maintain PSC compliance for residential and non-residential DSM programs that support mandated Energy Efficiency goals.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment, training and retention of program contractors/vendors and personnel.

  • Oversight of assigned program contractors/vendors and its employees.

  • Relationship building of the residential Trade Ally contractor base, which includes Relationship management, regional strategy planning, Program training, Retention of Trade Ally contractors, DSM program technical support for external/internal customers.

  • Field contact for external/internal customers and contractors/vendors 2nd level inquiries.

  • PSC complaints and damage claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform compliance inspections of completed DSM program contractor/vendor work on residential and non-residential DSM programs to ensure QA/QC and compliance as mandated by the PSC.

  • Record and document all related compliance results utilizing special test equipment with follow up to improve contractor/vendor performance and quality of work.

  • Proactively manage field activities for residential and non-residential DSM program contractor/vendor performance through continuous monitoring of quality, responsiveness, and DSM program compliance.

  • Perform as technical liaison between Duke Energy, local and state inspection authorities, builders, contractors, and vendors to ensure QC and problem resolution.

  • Develop and increase business relationships with assigned contractors/vendors, manufactures, local and state inspection authorities, builders, and 3rd party vendors that result in increased DSM program quality and participation.

  • Managing contractor/vendor relations may include site & office visits, administration of technical training, recognition, collaboration, sharing customer survey and sales metrics to improve performance and customer service.

  • Schedule and attend regular meetings and evaluations for assigned contractor/vendor management to monitor and improve performance, identify issues and adjust to changing conditions.

  • Manage assigned contractor/vendor program inventory: business license, insurance documents and background checks.

  • Responsible for delivering clear communications to customers, employees, and contractor/vendor organizations to inform and educate regarding Demand Side Management & Energy Efficiency plans, activities, and initiatives to ensure a positive experience.

  • Train residential and non-residential program contractor/vendors and their employees for program participation and code specific issues.

  • Comply with company safety protocol and all other administrative responsibilities; collaborate with Product, Services & Program Manager(s) and other associated stakeholders for the implementation and QA/QC of DSM Program filings which meet company goals and PSC mandates.

  • Build consistencies across assigned jurisdictions.

  • Provide technical training to Duke Energy employees as necessary to maintain awareness of the EE industry, building codes and practices and program changes.

  • Develop actionable plans to increase assigned contractor/vendor quality and efficiency to achieve defined DSM goals and strategies.

  • Track and provide monthly reports and additional metrics to Sr. Program Inspector and Supervisor.

  • Attend technical trainings and maintain industry certifications required by the state or Duke Energy to perform job responsibilities.

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • High School/GED degree

  • 3 years related work experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Duke Energy's business objectives, DSM programs, products and services.

  • Experience with electrical and HVAC mechanical operations, building and construction principals and building code.

  • Must be capable of climbing, bending, lifting a minimum of 25 lbs. and working in confined spaces.

  • Must be approved to wear a respirator for extended periods of time while in attic spaces, exposed to elevated temperature conditions

  • Comprehensive financial and business acumen

  • Business operation experience

  • General knowledge/understanding of utility regulatory environment

  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills, presentation skills, conflict resolution and management skills, leadership skills, facilitation skills, both internal and external to Duke Energy

Working Conditions

  • Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
