Dental Center Clinics Manager
Job Summary The Dental Center Clinics Manager is responsible for clinical, fiscal, human resource and quality outcomes for the Dental Center clinics. This includes actively managing all administrative and day to day operations. Working closely with the Dental Center leadership, the manager will develop standards of care to ensure high quality, cost effective delivery of care and spearhead innovative projects for program improvements.
The Dental Center Clinics Manager works with staff on a clearly defined and communicated vision and engages individuals and groups to achieve that vision. The manager also identifies and develops organizational talent and embraces continuous learning of self and others. Additionally, the manager collaborates with Dental Center and School of Dentistry leadership to advance quality strategies, ensure a positive professional work environment, facilitate timeliness of services, and enhance patient, providers, learners, and staff satisfaction.
This position oversees all aspects of the provision of administrative services and is responsible for financial accountability and working collaboratively with the School of Dentistry finance leadership team to monitor the operating budget. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $180,700 (Annual Rate). We provide comprehensive oral health care services with over 120,000 patient visits per year. We offer a four-year DDS program as well as a two-year program for international dentists that culminates in the DDS degree. We have numerous specialty residencies, PhD and master's degree programs in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, a combined DDS-PhD program, and a combined PhD-dental specialty training program. Other graduate programs include Craniofacial and Mesenchymal Biology and Bioengineering, and a DDS/MBA program. The School is one of the preeminent oral and craniofacial research enterprises in the world, ranking number one in National Institutes of Health funding for 25 consecutive years.
UCSF Dental Center
UCSF Dental Center is a cohesive entity within the structure of UCSF's School of Dentistry. Its primary goal is to provide outstanding, seamless, patient-centered care. The Center also aims to provide cutting-edge clinical experiences and education to students; contain costs for patient care and generate resources to reinvest in UCSF Dental Center and the School of Dentistry. A majority of the Dental Center's clinical facilities are located at the Parnassus Campus, with affiliated clinics at Buchanan Dental Center and an additional presence at Mission Bay, and the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. UCSF Dental Center's primary services include all advanced dental specialty programs, and the general dentistry and specialty faculty practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Education or related area and 7-10 years relevant progressive experience and I or equivalent combination of experience of training. Prior supervisory experience, prior experience in managing a clinical enterprise or unit.
- Previous dental billing experience in managed care setting.
- Clinic I center management experience, with progressive expertise in practice management, scheduling, customer-service methods, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology.
- Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently.
- Demonstrated managerial skills and human resources management knowledge, including staff deployment, resource utilization, budgeting and financial management, quality improvement, and program planning and implementation.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to convey complex information, instructions, and guidelines in a clear, concise, and specific manner, and to influence and persuade all levels of staff
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare and clinic operations information technology, including billing systems and patient care workflows and processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
- Expertise in MS Excel, Word and similar computer applications
