Software Engineer Neurology Full Time 83787BR Job Summary Uses professional engineering concepts. Develops and proposes engineering plans and specifications for equipment and instruments with limited scope and complexity. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $61,200 - $130,600 (Annual Rate). To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/index.html Department Description The Little / Starr labs at UCSF is seeking a software engineer who will contribute to the development and maintenance of data and software platforms for brain stimulation and sensing in several neurological disorders. The engineer will interface with neurosurgeons, postdocs, neurologists and industry partners in the development open source software to manage data, control implantable devices, and in the construction of platforms.. The job will require creating robust testing, validation and monitoring services for both frontend and backend systems. The position provides the opportunity to experience the full cycle of product development, from testing a benchtop system to surgical implantation into patients, and would be an excellent position for persons with the necessary software skills who are considering a career in medicine or in biomedical engineering. The engineer will receive expert training in how to develop and document software in full compliance with a highly regulated medical environment, providing a robust basis for future professional opportunity in the neurotech or other advanced medical technology fields.
