Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Edge Device Engineering Team Lead to establish and drive the lifecycle management of our edge devices. This role will be responsible for overseeing the deployment, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of our constantly growing install base of edge devices that connect our customers' machinery to our cloud-based IoT solution. The ideal candidate will build and lead a dedicated team of technical experts, ensuring efficient device management, seamless client onboarding, and continuous improvements to our edge device ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Establish and lead a team dedicated to edge device engineering, acting as the process and technical authority for device-related operations.
  • Edge Device Lifecycle Management: Define and implement strategies for device provisioning, onboarding, configuration, monitoring, and decommissioning.
  • Deployment & Support: Collaborate with service technicians to ensure smooth installation and configuration of edge devices at customer sites.
  • Software & Firmware Updates: Develop and oversee a structured approach for rolling out updates, patches, and security fixes across all deployed devices.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Implement real-time monitoring and alerting mechanisms to track device health, connectivity, and performance.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure all edge devices comply with industry standards and best practices for cybersecurity and data protection.
  • Process Automation: Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline device management operations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product development, sales, customer service, security teams to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Product Roadmap: Define and drive the edge device product roadmap, aligning with business and technical requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IoT, edge computing, or device management.
  • Strong understanding of IoT architecture, device provisioning, and remote management.
  • Experience with IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub) and device communication protocols (MQTT, OPC-UA, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with software and firmware update mechanisms for edge devices.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for edge computing environments.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
