Opportunity Overview: Project Manager - 18-month contract - Madison, PA This is a contract opportunity to be based at the Westinghouse Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. The Project Manager will manage all project management processes on low complexity projects or work scopes, and/or support specific activities or work tasks of medium to high complexity projects that deliver solutions to Commercial Nuclear Power Plants. As a Project Manager, you will be involved in:
- Leading small teams (average <10 team members) which may include project controls
- Implementing sound project management tools and practices
- Ensuring contractual requirements and met and remains within committed scope
- Supporting commercial discussions
What your day-to-day looks like:
- Project planning
- Complete all aspects of planning process including support of authoring project plans and developing scope, schedule, and cost baselines.
- Project execution, monitoring, and control
- Based on project plan, follow department protocols for acquiring team members to complete the work. Support delivery of all aspects of project including scope, schedule, cost, risk, procurement, quality, resources, communications, and stakeholders.
- Support project manager to Interpret and transmit project/contract requirements, and subsequent changes, to functional groups following an integrated change management process.
- Coordinate project communications with project manager. Help maintain project databases, systems and procedures to ensure efficient handling and transmission of project correspondence and documentation between project team members.
- Project closing
- Support program or project manager to properly close project by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools.
- Support project manager to perform final project quality assessment and report out. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons, and risk avoidance for future work.
- Team Building
- Utilize interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with team, customer, and other stakeholders (e.g. internal management) to facilitate successful project completion.
- To support successful project execution, promote continuous improvement within the team
- Identify, assess, and implement improvement opportunities which will add value.
What we need to see from you:
- Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, business, construction management, or related technical discipline is required.
- 3 years project management or controls experience or 2 years project management or controls experience and 2 years' experience in technical role in nuclear or construction industry.
- Preferred - 4-6 years of experience on project team, as project coordinator or support resource, in a technical industry such as engineering, manufacturing, nuclear or construction
- Familiarity with the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge
- An understanding of project management disciplines (cost, schedule, risk, quality, etc. management skills)
- Required Competencies include strong communication skills, ability to drive for results, planning and organization skills, strategic thinking and ability to promote teamwork and work well with others
- Must be able to lead team members, develop relationships with internal stakeholders, make decisions and carry out multiple tasks as assigned with minimal guidance from supervisory project managers and mentors
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Knowledge and skill of project scheduling and cost management.
- Demonstrated ability or understanding of the transformation of data to information for visualreports; database concepts to manage data within systems; the interaction of company functions that are touch points to projects (Finance, Legal, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.).
- High-quality presentation skills
Certifications:
- Project Manager will complete Project Manager qualification within designated timeframe. Exemptions provided based on prior training and work experience.
- PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification or other equivalent project management certification completed or in progress. Project controls-related certification (scheduling, estimating, earned value, risk, etc.) will be viewed as a plus.
