Job Summary
Under supervision of the Director of Financial Aid Operations, the Associate Director, Financial Aid provide administrative services for the processing of financial aid and counseling services for all students. They formulate financial aid award packages using established federal, state and/or university policies. This position will determine and approve financial aid eligibility using latest online technology and is responsible for complete accounts of financial aid records. The Associate Director bring supervisory experience and will manage Financial Aid Counselors and Senior Financial Aid Counselors. They must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Banner, including all aspects of loan processing in Banner and with COD and NSLDS, as well as reporting functions.
Essential Functions
- Develop internal scholarship policies, procedures, and operations to ensure appropriate packaging and disbursement.
- Serves as a member of scholarship committee with representation from schools and administrative offices.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data base for both undergraduate and graduate scholarship programs.
- Establish streamlined mechanisms providing scholarship information to eligible students throughout the University.
- Assist Executive Director with scholarship reporting and prepares adhoc reports upon request.
- Member of internal and external committees as needed and determined by Executive Director.
- Assists in the oversight of financial aid operations for all schools and campuses.
- Manages staff and coordinates day to day activities and duties for FA staff, evaluates performance.
- Develops training materials and conducts internal staff training sessions.
- Presents at Student Orientations, new student days and all other functions that require financial aid guidance.
- Counsels students, and outside groups on financial aid program eligibility, online applications and loan processing.
- Complies with current regulations of all federal (Title IV and Title VII), state, private and university programs.
- Conducts operational processing for all students.
- Assists with reporting requirements and maintaining compliance with all procedures and policies related to financial aid.
- Addresses financial aid incidents received in various venues; e-mail, assigned by call center or by phone.
- Oversee relationships between students, schools and Institutional Advancement related to scholarship opportunities.
- Acts as liaison with various internal departments as appropriate.
- Administers policies and procedures for the administration of financial aid and the daily activities of the Financial Aid office.
- Reviews/Prepares financial aid correspondence in all venues when necessary.
- Represents Drexel at professional meetings, seminars and/or conferences as assigned.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Drexel regulations, laws and policies.
- Understands and adheres to Drexel's Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy compliance standards.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with all colleagues while demonstrating cooperation and accountability.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience within higher education financial aid.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing/supervising financial aid staff.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects.
- Possesses excellent analytical and complex problem solving skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work some weekends a few times a year to support enrollment events.
- Familiarity with Title IV.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the following financial aid systems, such as Banner, COD, NSLDS and PHEAA.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630 - $93,950 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
