Position Title: Temporary Personal Property Tax Specialist
Location: Remote (East Coast hours required)
Contract Duration: 6-8 weeks (up to 2 months)

Position Overview:
The Personal Property Tax Specialist will assist the tax team by preparing and filing multi-state personal property tax returns across a range of states with varying filing requirements and due dates. The role demands an individual who is highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of working independently to navigate complex compliance rules while ensuring timely submission of all required filings.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file 100+personal property tax returns for multiple states, ensuring compliance with specific state rules
  • Manage return filings of varying complexity, from straightforward to more time-consuming, ensuring deadlines are met without delay.
  • Track and manage internal approvals and signatures, ensuring that filings proceed without unnecessary holdups.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to stay on top of deadlines, and handle proactive follow-up for required documentation.
  • Work full-time (40 hours/week) while adhering to East Coast business hours to align with internal team's schedule.
  • Utilize SAP (preferred, but not required) to assist with tax return processing.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in personal property tax filings, multi-state experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple filings and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and stay proactive, ensuring timely tracking and completion of tasks.
  • Comfort in following up on internal approvals and signatures to avoid delays.
  • Availability to work full-time during East Coast hours.

  • Strict filing deadlines-failure to meet these deadlines can lead to penalties.
  • Balancing simple and complex returns; the ability to prioritize effectively is crucial.
  • Proactively chasing approvals and signatures within the organization.
  • Navigating multi-state compliance rules for a variety of states, some of which have more complex requirements.

Additional Collaboration:
You'll primarily work with the tax and finance teams and may also interact with accounting teams for reporting purposes.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
