Water Resources Intern
Employee-owned HDR is currently seeking qualified individuals for our growing dam, levee, civil works and water supply management programs in Colorado.

Our globally coordinated, locally delivered team is committed to improving the resiliency, sustainability, and safety of our communities. Our nation's dams, levees and water supply systems are being upgraded and rebuilt to adapt to a changing climate, provide more efficient renewable power and meet growing water needs. HDR engineers are leading the way to solve our toughest water infrastructure problems.

We are seeking interns with interest water resources engineering.

The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:



  • Assist project engineers and senior engineers in water resources projects. Examples include: watershed assessments, water supply long-term planning, and floodplain analysis, high-level water resources studies.
  • Field and desktop data collection.
  • Hydrologic analysis and model development.
  • One- and two-dimensional hydraulic analysis and model development.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations.
  • Environmental permitting support.
  • Technical report development.
  • Development of visual aids for client and stakeholder presentations.


Required qualifications include:



  • Working towards Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other related field.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, and ability to work both independently and with dynamic teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments successfully.

Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
