HDR has an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced drinking water, wastewater, or water resources industry professional to serve in a leadership position as our Washington Water Business Group Project Delivery Lead (PDL).
As PDL, you will report to the Washington Water Business Group Manager (BGM) and work alongside the BGM to advance the technical delivery, career path development and mentorship of staff in the areas of program management, collaborative delivery, and project managements across all seven of the offices within Washington. Your direct reports may include local program managers, project manager, commercial managers, collaborative delivery leads, and construction management professionals. You will collaborate closely with HDR's Water Project Delivery Director to implement the Business Group's technical and quality initiatives within the Washington Area.
In addition, the PDL will be responsible for collaborating on technical delivery and business development for cross-business group opportunities with HDR's Transportation, Resources, Architecture, and Building Engineering Systems business groups. You will also support recruiting efforts to attract and retain eminent talent for our local program.
The PDL will provide the following, across all area offices:

  • Coordinate with the Project Management Office to develop project management skills for staff across all area offices.
  • Provide project management team organization and leadership for projects across the area.
  • Perform project reviews focusing on delivery oversight, financials, schedule, quality, and project staffing.
  • Coordinate with Market Sector Leads, Professional Services Lead, and Business Class Leads on staff assignments for projects across the area.
  • Mentor project/program management staff and develop learning paths.
  • Perform delegated Matrix of Authority (MOA) responsibilities from the BGM
  • Coordinate business processes with BGM consistent with Area, corporate policy, and HDR's matrix of authority (MOA).
  • Support processes focusing on removing barriers to execution to support the successful and effective delivery of projects.
  • Lead project teams as project manager, design manager, or other role.
  • Help serve as a champion for cross business group efforts.
  • Actively participate in recruiting efforts for the WBG program.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in relevant Engineering field (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental) preferred.
  • Washington PE (demonstrated ability to obtain by comity within 6 months of hire is acceptable).
  • Prior wastewater, drinking water, or water resources management consulting experience preferred.
  • History of successful project and/or program management with a focus on technical delivery and project leadership.
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Document control experience

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience.
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams. Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
