Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant
will be responsible for financial performance reporting, variance analysis, inventory management, budgeting, and compliance
within the manufacturing plant. The role requires a strong understanding of SAP, Excel, financial reporting, cost accounting, and SOX compliance. The candidate must be able to work independently with plant management and cross-functional teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting and internal controls.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance preferred).
-5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
-Strong knowledge of financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and inventory control.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced level).
-Understanding of SOX compliance, internal controls, and corporate financial reporting.
-SAP experience preferred.
-Ability to work flexible hours for physical inventories, month-end close, and budget periods.
-Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate financial data effectively.
-CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not required.
What You'll Be Doing/Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Assist in monthly financial close, budget preparation, and outlook reporting.
- Analyze production costs, plant performance, and variance reporting.
- Identify key performance shortfalls and develop corrective actions.
- Prepare reports and presentations for corporate finance and plant management.
Compliance & SOX Controls:
- Facilitate quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance reporting and annual testing.
- Manage internal accounting controls, cost center sign-offs, and financial integrity.
- Monitor aged GR/IR (Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt) differences and open POs.
Inventory & Fixed Asset Management:
- Ensure proper controls over raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and MRO inventories.
- Assist in physical inventory counts and discrepancy resolution.
- Oversee fixed asset tracking, additions, deletions, and transfers.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Support the annual budgeting and financial planning process (August-October heavy workload).
- Develop direct labor, variable overhead rates, and common overhead budgets.
- Link budget details with financial reports for leadership review.
- Ensure accurate cost allocation in SAP and financial statements.
Special Projects & Cross-Functional Support:
- Assist in financial analysis, forecasting, and special projects as needed.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams, finance teams, and corporate headquarters.
