Performs in a security department providing security for all hospital functions.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Wears issued uniform properly along with all issued equipment
    Patrols Hospital and grounds and checks locked spaces on a routine basis
    Observes unusual activity that may become a security concern
    Responds to all requests for assistance by Hospital staff
    Escorts visitors throughout the facility
    Maintain a visible presence in and around the hospital
    Lock all doors, according to schedule
    Maintain the security of the secured doors and areas
    Make frequent patrols in and around hospital, looking for unauthorized persons
    in restricted areas, maintenance problems and unusual activity
    Complete reports and make notifications to the proper persons
    Monitor parking lots, especially during shift change
    Dispatching, able to dispatch appropriate response to all emergencies
    Respond to all radio calls and pages
    Make shift reports and record all unusual activities and incidents in proper logs
    Offer assistance to staff, patients and visitors, when needed
  • 2. Interacts with Public in a positive manner responding to requests and providing general guidance to the public on security and access issues
  • 3. Responds to altercations with patients, visitors and staff and properly uses Defensive Resources in accordance with hospital Use of Force Policy
    Applies MOAB and CPI principles to all parties involved with the incident. Maintains respect for patients, visitors, and staff at all times and assists in deescalating incidents through calm demeanor.
    Works with local law enforcement on response situations where warranted.
  • 4. Understands Hospital SOP for restraint application, commitment against will situations.
    Assist medical staff in applying medical restraints or physically restraining any person
  • 5. All required safety education programs have been attended.
    Provides complete and accurate responses to safety questions.
    Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions.
  • 6. Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipment.
    Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
    Completes annual safety education modules.
    Demonstrates an understanding of established emergency, infection control procedures.
  • 7. Interacts with all of the above in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner as observed by Manager and peers.
    Fosters mature, professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly manner as measured by management observation and peer input.
    Maintains professional composure and confidence during stressful situations.
    Maintains open communication using appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
    Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times as observed by peers and management.
    Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identification as required by Hospital policy.
    ?Continuously displays a ?can do? attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program in place in the Hospital.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School Graduate or GED required.
High School Graduate or GED required.

EXPERIENCE

Previous law enforcement, military, dispatching, or security experience preferred

LICENSURE

CPI, MOAB, Defensive Resources (Baton, Handcuffing, and OC Foam), and Restraint Certification must be obtained within 6 months. Valid Driver's license is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Familiarity with Microsoft office products. Must be competent with computer skills, multitasking, and dispatching.
