JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Grembi lab in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences and One Health Microbiome Center at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA) is searching for a full-time Research Technologist. The candidate will join a growing and passionate team dedicated to understanding the complex host-microbe interactions within the small and large intestine, and their impacts on maternal and child health.

The candidate's responsibilities will include research activities including immune assays, DNA extraction and sequencing library preparation, and other laboratory techniques; establishing a workflow for receiving, processing, and maintaining inventory of incoming samples; administrative tasks including inventory management and purchasing; and the potential for basic data analysis and animal husbandry (mice).

This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of refunding pending adequate performance and continued funding availability. This position is well suited to recent graduates interested in a career in biotechnology and/or attending graduate school; however, all qualified individuals are encouraged to apply, as this position is available for annual renewal.

Education and Experience:

Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in a relevant field of the biological sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must demonstrate that they are detail oriented, able to handle multiple tasks concurrently, highly self-motivated, and be enthusiastic to work both individually and as part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary team. The applicant must have strong hands-on lab skills and previous experience working in a microbiology or molecular biology lab, including experience with common laboratory techniques like PCR and microbial culturing.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
