Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator II. Rutgers Law School invites applications for a Program Coordinator to begin immediately in the Rutgers Immigrant Community Assistance Program (
RICAP). The position is based on its Camden campus but serves all of Rutgers' campuses. Program Coordinator will assist in all aspects of administering the
RICAP Programs.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Conduct client intake, check for conflicts of interest, and create and maintain client files
- Engage in fact development
- Communicate directly with clients, including providing legal information and advice under the supervision of attorneys on an individual basis and at community outreach events
- Draft court motions and applications for immigration benefits
- Manage clinic docket including monitoring court deadlines and statutes of limitations
- Translate legal documents from English to Spanish and vice versa
- Interpret for client meetings, benefits/asylum interviews, and witness preparation sessions
- Assist in the creation of program related materials, including Know Your Rights materials and grant reports
- Manage expense reports and reimbursements
- Maintain updated list of referrals and assist in the referral and tracking of referral data as appropriate
- Supervise work study students as needed

Work Arrangement |
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program design and execution, coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.
- Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function that includes coordination of work and management of people; good communication skills; and computer literacy.

- At least 2 years' paralegal experience or the equivalent
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe, and Google Drive
- Demonstrated time management, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Preferred Qualifications |
- Demonstrated interest in social justice causes
- Experience working with vulnerable clients
- Willingness and/or ability to seek status as a "BIA Accredited Representative"
- Knowledge of case management systems, such as Clio and Box
