The Medical Intermediate and Intensive Care Unit is a progressively opening unit with flexible patient acuity ranging from Acute to Intensive Care. This unit proudly provides quality care to Internal Medicine patients of a variety of medical diagnosis including renal, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, hepatology, infectious disease, endocrine, and gerontology. The team building this unit has been recognized by AACN as a Beacon Gold Unit for Excellence. This achievement was obtained through a focus in collaborative practice, a commitment to maintaining a highly satisfied work force, and a healthy work environment which supports both novice and expert clinicians. FT PCT scheduling requirements: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week. In a 6-week period, 6 shifts must be on a Saturday or Sunday, 8 shifts must be night shifts. Working Saturday or Sunday nights counts toward both the weekend and night shift requirement. Medical Intermediate and Intensive Care Unit Critical Care Hospital, 3rd Floor * 28 bed hybrid unit with progressive and intensive care beds focused on caring for a wide variety of adult medical patients across the full spectrum of their hospital admission * Some of the primary admission diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, multisystem organ failure, GI bleeds, DKA, and significant compromise of kidney and liver failure * Provides new employees the unique opportunity to receive formal training and competencies in both progressive and critical care nursing The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. Essential Job functions:
Patient Population: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge and related competencies of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age, specific needs and to provide the equitable care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures. Neonates (0-4 weeks), Infant (1-12 months), Pediatrics (1-12 years), Adolescents (13-17 years), Adolescents (13-17 years), Adults (18-64 years), Geriatrics (65 years and older) Employment Qualifications: High School Degree or equivalent Preferred Education: Licensure/Certification Required: AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent Licensure/Certification Preferred: N/A Minimum Qualifications: Certification/Completion of one of the following:
