Vaco is assisting their Memphis-based client in their search for a Financial Controller.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong financial management and accounting experience, particularly in a banking/financial services environment. As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial reporting, compliance, and operational performance for the company. Your leadership will ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial statements while supporting the company's long-term financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reported.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with senior management to align financial goals with operational performance.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and overall financial performance to provide strategic guidance to the CFO.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial statements.
  • Review and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, identifying trends, discrepancies, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies in line with business objectives.
  • Support regulatory reporting and ensure timely submission of all required filings.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a high-performance team environment.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Banking experience is a plus.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with a strong focus on financial reporting and compliance.
    • Previous experience or current experience in public accounting is preferred, particularly in auditing or financial consulting.
    • At least 3-5 years of leadership experience managing a team in a financial or accounting role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Experience with banking-specific financial systems is a plus.
    • Soft Skills:
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
      • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
      • Proven leadership capabilities, including team development and cross-department collaboration.

        • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;

        With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
