Engineering Intern - Process & Safety Management

Join our team as Process Safety Engineering Intern. This role will support the Engineering team and other managers in the facility through various tasks and projects. The Process Engineer (Process Safety) intern will partner with Process Safety Engineers who maintain OSHA compliance for Process Safety Management and assist the Environmental, Health & Safety Department with the EPA risk management.

Ideally, candidates will be able to start in the May time frame. We are seeking candidates who are pursuing process, environmental or chemical engineering degrees and have completed prior internships. *Hours: Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:00pm.

Responsibilities & Desired Skills



  • The intern will partner with team members to support the design/analyze manufacturing equipment/processes to ensure the safety of EEs, learn about risks associated w/ manufacturing processes & develop safe manufacturing protocols/procedures. This intern will be involved with risk management activities associated with PSM's and perform various functions, working collaboratively with other project Engineers, Operations, Safety, and Maintenance to provide loss prevention & risk management support regarding the hazardous chemicals and processes within the facilities.
  • **This is an excellent opportunity to participate and observe a detailed Process Hazards Analysis event which happens every 5 years in the Chilton plant. This will be a detailed analysis of systems resulting in process improvements and eliminating hazards.
  • Candidate must have completed at least two years of a college degree from a recognized accredited college or university in Engineering. Environmental, Chemical or Process Engineering majors preferred or other related degrees.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications & auto CAD.
  • Strong interpersonal & teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace.
  • Assist other engineers in the design and budgeting of projects.
