Job Summary:
This is a limited term position in the University of Wisconsin - Madison Police Lake Rescue and Safety Department. This position is responsible for overseeing day to day recreational activities of University students, staff, and the general public involving aquatic activities on Lake Mendota. Employees in this position are responsible for ensuring recreational safety by detecting and correcting unsafe boating, swimming, and other lake related practices and providing rescue assistance. Responsibilities: Supervises the assigned lake area to prevent accidents, assist lake users, and respond to emergencies.

Candidate must be willing to learn the required boating skills to perform the job. Experience and comfort being on the water is necessary. License/Certification: Preferred Work Schedule: This position is considered an essential position for the University Campus. The schedule is determined by Department needs and policy. The schedule rotates based on a pre-determined schedule and includes working holidays and weekends. Work beyond or outside hours scheduled may be required during emergencies, special events or as assigned Work Type: It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
