Reuters News is looking for an experienced and ambitious U.S. Corporate RegulationReporter (Level 1 Journalist) based in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will break news Elon Musk's new DOGE office and on the new President's tech policy priorities with a focus on Big Tech and AI. Our readers want to know more about DOGE's mandate to advise on streamlining the US government, regulations and the federal budget. What actions will be recommended? Who will influence the process and how successful will DOGE be? This position will also cover new AI policy and any efforts to change Section 230. When done right, and quickly, these are top reads among Reuters LSEG clients and on Reuters.com, especially when we break news. The ideal reporter will be able to build sources within the tech policy community, within DOGE and among the corporate lobbyists whose companies are pressing the new administration for regulatory changes that could boost their businesses. The position requires strong writing and an ability to quickly explain technical concepts with clean copy. It also entails some trial coverage and occasional work on Capitol Hill to cover hearings.
