Rutgers Makerspace is a facility open to all faculty staff and students to provide a space that allows for creativity, experiential learning, and the entrepreneurial spirit to thrive. Our available equipment includes 3D printers, laser cutters/engravers, a woodshop, textiles, UV Printing, and picture framing equipment.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Makerspace Coordinator for The Rutgers Makerspace.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides one-on-one consultation to coworking members on design, manufacturing, and project development.
  • Assists members in refining their product designs, ensuring they are functional, feasible, and aligned with market demands.
  • Offers guidance on manufacturing processes, materials selection, and cost-effective production methods.
  • Helps members manage their projects, including planning, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Connects members with relevant resources, suppliers, and industry contacts to support their ventures.
  • Organizes and leads workshops or training sessions on topics related to entrepreneurship, design, and manufacturing.
  • Provides continuous support and follow-up to ensure the success of members' projects

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM/STEAM, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to three years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of and experience with 3D printing, CAD design and slicing, rapid prototyping equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, and woodworking tools.
  • Strong customer service skills.
