Job Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is looking to add a Unified Communications Technician to the Network Applications team within the Network Services Department.
The Network Services Department is responsible for the design, management, operation, and support of the campus network. Network Services coordinates the planning, design, procurement, and implementation of a broad range of network services, including high performance research networking, unified communications, firewall services, access to the Internet, Internet2 and cloud providers.
The Network Applications team is responsible for applications development in support of Network Services, including software used to automate, configure maintain and monitor the network. Network Applications also supports a variety of video and voice applications, as well as interfacing with other groups in support of service delivery.
This position focuses on providing complex technical and operational support for our unified communication system and our telemanagement billing system. This unified communication system support includes processing requests for adds, changes, and moves, and assists the Unified Communications team in improving and implementing the communications systems. Billing system support includes creating queries, adding features, and ensuring data integrity.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications: - Experience working with partners, both technical and non-technical, to gather business requirements, articulating service capabilities to partners, and representing a technical service. - Working knowledge of installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting both Linux and Windows servers, including servers in virtual environments, such as VMWare - Familiarity with relational database design and/or SQL and/or other query language - Working knowledge of VoIP and unified communications (preferably Cisco) support and service delivery (Demonstrated experience with VoIP and unified communications (preferably Cisco) support and service delivery for level III) - Professional experience with service capacity, disaster recovery and business continuity planning (required for level III)
In addition to required qualifications, the most qualified candidates may also have the following preferred qualification:
- Cisco VoIP and Unified Communications certifications or training - Knowledge of service capacity, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning (preferred for level II) - Experience working with support requests via a ticketing system

Full Time: 100%
Hybrid: Work in this position may be performed partially remote. The position requires work to be performed on-site up to one time per week. Work performed remotely requires an approved Remote Work Agreement (RWA), which is reviewed and approved annually, and requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and on-site work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

Salary:
Minimum $61,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants can anticipate earning between $61,000 - $70,000 for a level II and $70,000-$95,000 for a level III, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
