Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development ( IEED) leads the University in its goal to uncover and unleash the vast innovation potential of faculty, students, staff, alumni and stakeholders. IEED works with leadership across campus to set strategy, provide central services, establish and foster partnerships, and garner resources to support the University's innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development agenda. UNC-Chapel Hill is generating ground-breaking ideas through research to become a leading fundamental and translational research university. IEED uses a federated model to strengthen the innovation ecosystem that consists of an extensive network of University-facilitated programs. This network of students, faculty and staff are working together to tackle the most challenging problems in North Carolina and the world.
Position Summary
Innovate Carolina is looking for a creative, data-driven Public Communications Specialist to lead social media campaigns and contribute to broader marketing efforts. This role will focus on content creation and curation, social media strategy, and website updates to tell the story of innovation and entrepreneurship at UNC-Chapel Hill. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing social media campaigns across various platforms, aiming to grow brand awareness, engage audiences, and drive conversions. They should have a passion for storytelling, an understanding of marketing trends, and the ability to analyze data to optimize campaign performance.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop and Acrobat as well as knowledge and prior experience using WordPress is required. The selected candidate must be able to meet deadlines and work as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The preferred candidate will have strong analytical skills to measure and enhance campaign effectiveness, creativity in crafting compelling stories, and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. The preferred candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to create compelling visual and written content that resonates with target audiences, experience with social media management tools, strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns simultaneously and a creative, innovative, and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
