Overview |
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Unit Administrator/Specialist Casual for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. This position provides comprehensive advising, scholarship support, and office administration to students interested in studying abroad. The position will work closely with students as they navigate the process of selecting study abroad programs, applying for scholarships, and preparing for international experiences. The position is a combination of student support, administrative tasks, and ensuring students have the resources they need for a successful global education journey.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides one-on-one advising to students interested in studying abroad, assisting them in selecting the right programs and preparing for the application process.
- Guides students through all aspects of their study abroad experience, including academic credit transfer, cultural preparation, and navigating challenges abroad.
- Provides continuous support and troubleshooting for students, both pre-departure and during their time abroad.
- Reviews scholarship applications for eligibility, completeness, and compliance with guidelines.
- Coordinates with OGE Director to track awards, ensuring timely processing and distribution of funds.
- Maintains up-to-date records of scholarship recipients and assist with reporting on funding usage.
- Assists with the organization of study abroad materials, resources, and documentation.
- Maintains and update program databases, student files, and other administrative records.
- Provides general office support such as answering emails, scheduling meetings, and handling inquiries related to study abroad programs.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus 2 years advising experience.

- Prefer 5 years of advising experience in a study abroad or international office at a higher education institution.
