The Office of Student Financial Aid is expanding our Student Engagement team with a Basic Needs Case Manager!

In this dynamic and fulfilling role, you'll have the unique opportunity to enhance and unify basic needs support for students across UW-Madison. This position will be a key player in connecting students with essential resources, providing direct support, and fostering valuable partnerships both on campus and within the Madison community.

Responsibilities:
Manages a program and/or programmatic activities. Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.

  • 20% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 20% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 10% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • 10% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 10% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 5% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 5% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • 10% Oversight of the Basic Needs Program & Portfolio within the Office of Student Financial Aid with a focus of establishing strategic priorities, fostering partnerships, and cultivating student centered resources.
  • 5% Perform robust outreach initiatives to increase awareness of Basic Needs Resources. This may include outreach to UW-Madison students, UW-Madison Departments, as well as within the community and across Local Colleges.
  • 5% DEM is committed to the highest standard of service. This position will be a role model by practicing exemplary and respectful behaviors in all interactions.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have case worker and outreach experience, or similar transferable experience. Individuals should have strong interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in and across teams, and an ability to foster partnerships. Success candidates will also demonstrate strong communication, an empathetic approach, and problem-solving skills.


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Funding for this position is currently available for three years. Long-term funding beyond three years is uncertain.
