This position operates large solid waste refuse trucks and heavy equipment to collect, transport, and dump the institution's solid waste and recycling materials while ensuring compliance with environmental and governmental laws on what can/cannot be landfilled. As a Lead, you will be working with campus partners on special projects, container placements, and maintenance. Responsibilities: Operates large solid waste removal trucks and heavy equipment to collect, transport, and dump the institution's solid waste and recycling materials while ensuring compliance with environmental and governmental laws on what can/cannot be landfilled. 25% Collects and transports waste, recycling, and compostable materials and ensures materials are disposed of property based on environmental and governmental laws and the institution's safety and bio-hazard standards 20% Operates waste and recycling vehicles and other equipment; and navigates vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and parking lots 20% Inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles daily based on established requirements 15% Identifies and reports all refuse containers and equipment in need of repair or replacement 5% Coordinates crew placement, routes, vehicles, and securing our waste and recycling grounds when unoccupied. 5% Operates snow removal equipment to clear snow in assigned areas and around dumpsters. 5% Coordinates container placement and collection for special events and projects. 5% Coordinates and execute a maintenance plan for containers and equipment. Diploma Qualifications: Required: -Minimum of one year experience driving and operating heavy-duty trucks with air brakes -Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) -A valid driver's license -Ability to work effectively within a team to enhance efficiency and ensure safety Preferred: -Experience in the waste and recycling field -Experience greasing and maintaining vehicles and equipment License/Certification: Required Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards Required CDL - Commercial Drivers License Class B Commercial Driver's License Preferred Forklift Operator Certification Work Schedule: 4:00am- 12:30pm, Mon- Fri, rotating Sat 6:00am- 10:00am Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $26.00 HOURLY Depending on Qualifications The minimum hourly rate for this position is $26.00, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
