JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State DuBois is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual for the Assistant Director of Student Development position.This a full-time, term position, funded for 6 months with the possibility of reappointment.

Position Summary: The Assistant Director is responsible for the overall coordination, leadership, direction, management, and delivery of out of class programming as it relates to student engagement and will support career development initiatives. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs to support student development as it relates to engagement, leadership development, out of class programming and clubs and organization and will help develop and deliver programming related to career, and professional success of students as we educate them on career choices and the employment search process.

Duties: The Assistant Director's primary responsibilities include:

  • Developing, promoting, and implementing programs that support student engagement, leadership development, and the out of class experience for a holistic approach to student development

  • Assisting with career planning, skill development and the employment process for students.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with students through classroom interactions, group settings, and individual meetings.

  • Collaborating with other engagement and professionals at the University.

  • Providing diversity programming and overseeing clubs and organizations, with specific focus on advising the THON organization and co-advising the Student Government.

  • Assisting with transition programming which includes new student orientation and transition events as student move in and out of the University

  • Leading and supporting retention initiatives in collaboration with the Student Affairs department.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to student and career development.

  • Independence in task management, excellent leadership, and communication skills.

  • Availability for some evening and weekend hours, as well as overnight travel.

Qualifications: This position may be filled as a Student Engagement Specialist Intermediate Professional or higher.This position requires minimum of 1+ years related experience with a bachelor's degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, Counselor Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position's duties and a valid driver's license is required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required, as well as the following: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
