Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing patient care, providing quality assurance, maintaining infection control, administering regulatory compliance and preserving fiscal stability. The Office of Clinical Operations is an integral part of the School and their primary mission is to provide the highest quality education and training to students and to provide the highest quality dental treatment available for patients.
Position Summary
This position will provide lab support and will work with staff and technicians in the Center for Digital Innovation (CDi) dental lab within the ASOD. This position will be responsible for helping managing daily workflow and providing case management for all lab work that is produced by the CDi while managing projects for the interns and work-study students to ensure that all work is being completed efficiently and in a timely manner. This position will be responsible for monitoring all incoming digital and analog materials as well as completed prosthetic materials for quality control. This position provides troubleshooting and communication about each lab case as needed. This position will design and produce models and other products using digital and analog processes as needed. Accurate record-keeping is required. This position will be responsible for helping maintain all lab equipment and supplies in the CDi.

a. Qualifications: High School diploma (etc)
b. Competencies:
Knowledge Technical - Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and terminology. Knowledge of and ability to use appropriate cleaning materials and sterilizing techniques. Knowledge of and ability to use computer software.
Safety and Health Compliance - Ability to demonstrate an understanding of applicable policies and procedures. Ability to maintain conditions that ensure a healthy and safe working environment.
Communication - Ability to convey information clearly and concisely either verbally or in writing. Ability to record data accurately.
Interpersonal Skills - Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with staff and others
c. Experience:
Experience in a dental lab setting and terminology.
Experience and comfortable using Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with digital dental CAD design applications such as 3Shape Dental Manager, ExoCAD or Dental Wings with preferable knowledge in 3Shape Systems.
Experience with lab case tracking or Medical/Dental patient records software preferably Seazona Lab Management software.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to work safely around fumes, chemicals, vibrations, noise, and blood/body fluids.
* Must have strong hand-eye coordination, and dexterity to create dental prostheses and work with small items with detailed precision at high production levels while maintaining quality assurance expectations.
* Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
* Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time with frequent bending, stooping, walking, and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive motion).
b. Visual Attention, Mental Concentration, and Manipulative Skills:
* Critical when ordering materials (catalog number, unit price, total amount, shipping address, delivery dates, etc.).
* Critical when preparing dental prostheses.
c. Safety for others:
* Materials must be examined and determined to be in a safe and operational condition for patient and staff safety as well as infection control.
* Work environment must adhere to all EOE and OSHA policies and procedures specific to the different areas to ensure the safety of all ASOD staff.
* Adherence to HIPAA is crucial in order to avoid costly and lengthy litigation.
* Adherence to UNC ASOD IT security protocols
