About the Role

The successful Sr. Proposal and Technical Writer produces content for products and services in various media types for a wide range of uses with a focus on RFP/RFQ responses and Capabilities Briefings. You are responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation that translates highly technical language and service descriptions into documents which are easy to understand, clear and logical. As the Sr. Proposal and Technical Writer, you will also contribute to a variety of areas including:

  • Source content materials, including maintaining an efficient network of internal and external sources and contacts upon which to draw for content, topics, contributions and clarifications.
  • Contribute to the proposal development library/content repository to enable the broader organization to find and repurpose materials and documentation.
  • Analyze information from multiple resources to write, edit, update, and troubleshoot content consistent with external client RFP requirements and applicable company standards.
  • Prepare, review, analyze, and edit client-facing communications and documentation to include RFP/RFQ responses, templates for reuse, capabilities statements, and other requested documentation.
  • Consolidate data for translation into comprehensible text for internal and external customers.
  • Assemble intricate documentation and proposal responses based on RFP requirements, instructions, and stated evaluation criteria. These could include additional client specific insights (win themes, hot buttons, proof points) uncovered in conjunction with Business Development colleagues and client relationship owners.
  • Use writing and production experience to develop responsive content based on various source materials.
  • Prepare and organize internal training for new users and offshore staff.
  • Act as a mentor and provide training to junior and mid-level writers.
  • Research, track, and review relevant subject matter developments for the purpose of updating products and writing new content for TRSS capabilities and solutions.
  • Support the design and development of high quality reference materials for the company's products and resources using interactive content and new technologies.
  • Leads he establishment and maintenance of a proposal knowledge management database, to include past performance references, product and service descriptions, and other content that can be easily searched, re-purposed, and lightly customized for use in client-facing proposals.

About You

You're a good fit for the role of Proposal and Technical Writer if you have:

  • 4-year college degree (BA or BS) - equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5-8 years' experience with proposal or business writing, project management, technical writing, and expert level knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word and SharePoint.
  • Experience with proposal writing, especially in response to formal solicitations for federal government customers.
  • Experience with proposal writing for technology/data companies is a plus.
  • Must possess a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to manage multiple priorities, often with competing and tight deadlines.
  • Strong editing skills and attention to detail.
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to comprehend increasingly technical solutions and analytical skills; ability and desire to learn new products/technologies quickly.
  • Demonstrated soft skills, including the ability to effectively interact, communicate, and work well as a team member with internal and external partners at all levels of the organization to include business development, finance, and legal departments.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • U.S. Citizenship essential to comply with government contract/agency or department of Federal Government requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $83,090 - $154,310.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
