The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission is looking for an energetic, hard-working individual to fill a limited-term Semi Skilled Laborer position at Drake Well Museum and Park. This position is responsible for grounds keeping and other maintenance related work. This is a season position that generally runs between May and November each year. The Semi Skilled Laborer will work no more than 6 months in a calendar year.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This limited-term Semi Skilled Laborer position is responsible for performing grounds keeping, maintenance, construction, and repair duties at Drake Well Museum and Park and its satellite sites, Historic Pithole City and McClintock Well #1. Drake Well Museum and Park is set on 244 beautiful, wooded acres and features 12,000 square feet of interior exhibits as well as five acres of exterior exhibits, including the National Historic Landmark well, historic oil field structures and operating machinery. The historic site also offers an abundance of year-round recreational opportunities, including paved bike trails, delayed harvest fly fishing in Oil Creek, modern picnic facilities, hiking trails, and more. Drake Well Museum and Park attracts over 40,000 visitors each year.
Drake Well Museum and Park's Semi Skilled Laborer spends significant time working outdoors on duties such as: mowing, trimming, mulching, raking, weed control, and snow removal. Additionally, this position performs routine maintenance and repairs in various trades, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. This position is responsible for maintaining and operating all tools, small equipment, grounds-related equipment (such as lawn mowers, tractors and the like) and site vehicles, making minor repairs and adjustments as needed.
The Semi Skilled Laborer is also responsible for carrying out routine custodial activities such as removal of trash, sweeping, mopping and cleaning to ensure the site is clean for visitors, staff, and volunteers. This person follows all PHMC and Commonwealth safety rules and ensures that alarms are functioning properly and the site is secured at the end of the day.

- This is a season position that generally runs between May and November each year. The Semi Skilled Laborer will work no more than 6 months in a calendar year.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- You must have experience in grounds keeping and use of tractors or similar large landscaping equipment.
- You must have experience in the operation/maintenance/repair of tools, equipment, and/or vehicles.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
