THE POSITION

The PA State Police have a vacancy for a Clerical Assistant 2 (CA2) position that creates, updates and maintains confidential records in several Department databases and programs pertaining to highly confidential investigations with minimal supervision. Assists in the creation and maintenance of fictitious identities of members performing undercover investigations. Maintains financial reports, audits, and online accounts for both open and covert Departmental functions. Coordinates maintenance and tracking of vehicles in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation's (BCI) Specialty Vehicle Fleet for undercover investigations. Establishes and maintains effective communication with various businesses as well as local, state, and federal agencies.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The responsibilities of this position include creating and updating profile and tracking information within the Department's Automated Intelligence System (AIS) for positions within the Department, which are supported by the Operational Support Unit (OSU). Exerts individual decision-making by tracking fiscal data of confidential expenses incurred by BCI; to include cellular telephone/utility bills, consumer credit reporting, housing for fictitious identities being utilized in covert undercover investigations. Maintains a general ledger and knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Utilizes AIS, JNET/CLEAN, TraCS, and RMS to store identification and financial information in compliance with governing Department policy and statutes. Independently maintains and updates databases to ensure accurate records of identifying information and activity are correctly processed (i.e. fictitious identities, registrations, consumer credit reporting, payment of bills) for undercover investigations across the state.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is not eligible for telework.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment (COEs):
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
