DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Site Administrator for the Pennsylvania Military Museum, you will play a crucial role in the preservation and interpretation of this significant historic site. Welcoming over 30,000 visitors annually, the Museum boasts historic structures, monuments and memorials, interior and exterior static displays, a complex collection of artifacts, and an active landing zone for rotor-aircraft, all on nearly 70 acres. The historic site maintains strong relationships with military commands and units, veteran service agencies, non-governmental organizations, and surviving members of service members' families. In this role, you will manage the operation and development of the Museum by planning, directing, monitoring, and supervising all facets of day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include the oversight of the maintenance and preservation of buildings and grounds, personnel management, financial management, security, collections care and management, exhibits, interpretation and educational programming, various types of planning, recruitment and training of volunteers, fundraising, identifying and developing community partners, marketing, implementation of Commonwealth and PHMC policies and procedures, and promotion of the site locally, regionally and nationally. As the Site Administrator, you will also liaise with the Friends of the Pennsylvania Military Museum (the museum's official support group, or Associate Group), the local community, and other organizations, institutions, and individuals. This includes assisting the Associates with development, annual planning, submission of annual agreements, and timely reporting to the Bureau office, while providing the group with appropriate non-profit management expertise and advice to ensure compliance with Commonwealth agreements and professional museum ethical standards. Our team will also rely on you to plan, approve, direct, and implement grant writing and fundraising development activities on behalf of the historic site in coordination with the Friends of the Pennsylvania Military Museum. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 60-minute lunch. Some weekend and evening work for meetings and special events will be required.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) on an ad hoc basis only, subject to approval. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Boalsburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of professional experience managing overall museum operations including two years of experience supervising professional or volunteer museum staff; and a bachelor's degree in history, American studies, museum studies, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of experience supervising professional or volunteer museum staff and a bachelor's degree in history, American studies, museum studies, or a closely related field.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
- This particular position also requires one or more years of full-time experience supervising or managing professional museum staff and/or community partners at a museum, historic site, battlefield, park, or landmark with the mission of preserving and interpreting history. This experience can include, but is not limited to, curators (those who are responsible for the care, preservation, and interpretation of artifacts), educators (those who are responsible for developing and delivering educational programs for diverse audiences), stakeholders, official representatives, and maintenance staff.
- This particular position also requires at least six months of full-time professional experience comparable in scope and responsibility at a museum, historic site, battlefield, park, or landmark with the mission of preserving and interpreting U.S. military history in:
- Overseeing professional museum staff and or volunteers who are responsible for developing and delivering public history programs, including K-12 education programs and other interpretive programs for diverse audiences.
- Being personally responsible for all aspects of managing, directing, and evaluating interpretive programming that utilizes historic weapons demonstrations. Personal responsibility includes firing historic weapons in the delivery of an educational/interpretive program.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
