Medical Assistant - Hematology Oncology - Days Contingent Henry Ford Hematology & Oncology - Jackson (Gayle M. Jacob Cancer Center), now a part of Henry Ford Cancer, focuses on the treatment of cancer through medication, including chemotherapy (as opposed to radiation or surgery). Our experienced physicians are specialists in medical oncology and hematology, which concerns diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the blood. Many of our chemotherapy treatments are prepared through chemotherapy IV robotics, an advanced technology that ensures dosage accuracy for maximum patient and staff safety. Chemotherapy is provided at our Gayle M. Jacob Center for Medical Oncology, which was designed as a comfortable, private, and healing environment. Our 16 infusion areas allow patients to control the temperature, lighting and volume and channel of their individual TV. Patient navigators provide education and personal support for patients and their families. The entire team at Henry Ford Hematology & Oncology - Jackson (Gayle M. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. SHIFT DETAILS: Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, Friday from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 7:30 am - 10:00 am LOCATION: 1100 E Michigan Ave Ste 307 Jackson, MI 49201 STATUS: Contingent EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Additional Requirements: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation. Additional Information
