Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Human Resources Manager for the Dean's Office within the School of Arts & Sciences. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager has responsibility for the day-to-day administration and coordination of the human resources and personnel programs and policies effecting
SAS employees (including staff, faculty, student workers, and hourly employees).
The School of Arts and Sciences (
SAS), the largest academic unit at Rutgers University, is comprised of over 41 academic departments and degree-granting programs, as well as a large number of other research programs, centers, and institutes.
SAS employees nearly 3000 faculty and staff and has a salary base in excess of $180M, educates over 30,000 students a year, and has an annual budget of approximately $310M.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides leadership in guiding, planning, implementing, evaluating, and processing human resources and personnel services related to SAS including but not limited to: develop, lead and monitor processes of recruitment, hire, and orientation in concert with various departments and units within SAS and the University for all Class 1, 3,4 and 5 staff and student hourly employees.
- Handles the development of and administration of processes to ensure complete onboarding, orientation, and new hire performance management (including probationary periods) of all new staff.
- Creates and maintains electronic personnel records and database; ensure compliance with relevant aspects of faculty and staff contractual agreements and university policies.
- Administers and ensures compliance with the relevant processes for staff performance management and appraisal.
- Develops, leads and monitors employee development programs aligned with SAS and university mission and strategic goals.
- Conducts periodic and as-needed staff position classification and review; collaborate with the Assistant Director to identify critical organizational needs.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Director to review existing policies and procedures and create and implement policies and procedures as needed.
- Gathers data, generates reports, analyses data and prepares reports, ongoing data review to ensure data integrity, and establish effective and efficient procedures and practices to ensure data requirements are met with valid data.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree.
- Five years of human resources experience including providing guidance on federal and state guidelines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated strong business writing skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, confidential office.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office products including MS Word and Excel.
- The ability to multi-task, direct the work of others, and the ability to advise on federal, state and university policy for employees at all levels is essential.

- Graduate work in relevant discipline. Supervisory experience.
- Human Resources experience in higher education institution.
